“What Is healthy” is the name of a solo exhibition in 2019 installed in Zurich (Switzerland) and Rotterdam (The Netherlands). During a one-year long period the artist/photographer Celina Schroeder analysed in writing, what the essence of life means to her and presented her final analysis in 52 pieces depicting the imperfections of nature, such as cracks in walls, washed out graffiti, a single vortex on the ocean shore (symbolising death), but also images of nature symbolising recognisable strength like a flower in the desert or an ant carrying a leaf twice her size. She combined this with scars, that she carries on her own body and created double exposed images combining the scars on her body with images of the nature, representing growth and connection with our surroundings and nature.
The returning key element she finds, seems to be balance of the good and bad. A letting go of the idea that things could ever be perfect.
The highlight of the exhibition was the opening at the 30th of January.
In a half an hour long walk we opened the exhibition together by walking from the north-side of the Maastunnel in Rotterdam together to the exhibition space in the south of Rotterdam. Together, we experienced a journey in our minds which was enriched by a self-written text of mine, that we performed together by reading it out loud.
